KERALA BLASTERS FC EXTENDS CONTRACT OF SPORTING DIRECTOR KAROLIS SKINKYS UNTIL 2028

Kerala Blasters FC announces the extension of Karolis Skinkys as the Sporting Director of the club for 5 more years. The contract is set to keep him in his role, at the helm of all sporting affairs, until 2028.

Karolis, who joined KBFC in 2020 as part of a major strategic restructure by the management, has been instrumental in the growth and success of the club’s sporting activities. In his tenure so far, the club qualified for consecutive playoffs for the first time in club history. The team also finished as runners-up in the Hero ISL 2021-22 season, setting numerous club records along the way.

Under his guidance, the club made significant strides in its youth development activities. Along with improved performances of the youth teams, a great emphasis was placed on creating an effective player development model. With a revised focus on setting a clear pathway into the first team, numerous academy players have been promoted to the first-team over the last few years.

Commenting on the contract extension, Kerala Blasters FC Director Nikhil Bharadwaj said, “Karolis is an integral part of our Blasters family and we are delighted to extend our cooperation for 5 more years. It is an important move for the club as we aim to build on two consecutive playoffs and further our sporting ambitions. Kerala Blasters will square off against Bengaluru FC in a raging South Indian affair at the Sree Kanteerava stadium, Banglore. Both teams will be looking for a win to clinch the important three points on the road to play-offs.

KBFC defeated Chennaiyin FC(2-1) in their last match at home. After being a goal down, the men in yellow showed character to come back to the game and win it. Adrian Luna’s equalizing goal in the first half followed by KP Rahul’s winner in the second half gave Blasters the vital 3 points.

Bengaluru FC is currently on a 5 match winning streak. They haven’t dropped any points since the start of 2023. In their last match, the Blues defeated ATK Mohun Bagan courtesy of goals from Javi Hernandez and Roy Krishna.

Kerala Blasters will take on Chennaiyin FC in the much-anticipated Southern rivalry at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi. A win will take blasters closer towards their goal of qualifying to the playoffs

Kerala Blasters faced a narrow defeat against East Bengal in the last game(1-0). Cleiton Silva’s solitary goal helped the Red and Gold Brigade to register a win over KBFC for the first time. Blasters is placed third position in the table with 28 points from 16 games.

Chennaiyin FC is coming to this game after a 2-2 draw against Odisha FC. They’re at 8th position with 18 points from 16 games. The Marina Machans still have a faint hope of getting into the play-offs, so they’ll be aiming to get all three points out of this rivalry match.

Kerala Blasters will be facing East Bengal FC in an away fixture at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata. The Blasters will be aiming to assure their spot among the top six by claiming all three points.

Kerala Blasters are approaching this game after a home win against Northeast United FC. Diamantakos’s two quick goals gave KBFC a much-needed bounce-back win. The men in yellow are in the third position in the table with 28 points from 15 games.

East Bengal FC is coming after a defeat against FC Goa. They lost to the Guars for a margin of 4-2 and are placed in 9th position in the table with only 4 wins from 15 games and a tally of 12 points.

KERALA BLASTERS FC SIGN MIDFIELDER DANISH FAROOQ

Kerala Blasters FC is excited to confirm that it has reached an agreement for the transfer of Danish Farooq from Bengaluru FC for an undisclosed fee. The 26-year-old will join the club in this winter transfer window after penning a multi-year deal that keeps him at the club until 2026.

Danish started his youth career with J&K Bank Football Academy, representing them across all age groups. His exemplary performances earned him a move to Lonestar Kashmir with whom he made 18 appearances before joining Real Kashmir in 2016. He became the top scorer and top assist provider in the Hero I-League Second Division, helping the Snow Leopards qualify for the I-league in the 2017/18 season. After spending 5 years with Real Kashmir, Danish was signed by Bengaluru FC for a two-year deal. He has since made 27 appearances and scored 4 goals in the Hero Indian Super League. His strong physique, scoring capacity, and dribbling skills earned him the name Kashmiri Ronaldo.

Commenting on the Blasters winter transfer, a happy Karolis Skinkys said, “Danish was one of the key targets from the last season when we saw him in the context of Hero ISL. Danish’s impressive performance in the Hero ISL was rewarded with a national team call up for the two friendly matches against Bahrain and Belarus.

Danish has already linked up with his new teammates in Kochi and will be available for selection for the game against East Bengal on February 3rd.

MAtch Day Preview : NEUFC vs KBFC

Kerala Blasters will take on Northeast United FC in the 8th home game at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi. With Blasters returning to the home after 26 days gap, will be aiming to grab all 3 points against the Highlanders in front of the 12th man.

KBFC is currently going through a rough patch following back-to-back defeats. In the very last game, they encountered Goa and lost 3-1, even after putting up an appreciable fight. The Blasters are now in 5th position with 25 points from 14 games and are still in the fight for the play-off spot.

Northeast United FC is not having their best season so far. They’re bottom placed with only one win and a draw from 15 games. But with a new coach at the helm and some variations in their squad, they’re giving a fight to the opponents.

HEAD TO HEAD

KBFC holds an upper hand against NEUFC winning 7 out of 17 games and have scored 19 goals. Northeast United have won 4 times and have scored 12 goals.

In the reverse fixture which happened back in November, Blasters dominated the Highlanders and won the game by a 3 goal margin. Diamantakos scored his first in yellow followed by a late brace from Sahal who came in as a substitute, sealed the game for us.

Dimitrios Diamantakos scored his seventh league goal against FC Goa from a free-kick. Adrian Luna’s set piece from the left flank came down to the box for Dimi, who nodded it to the net. He created multiple chances before and after that, but failed to convert them.

Adrian Luna had a good outing against FC Goa. He made his presence felt everywhere in the pitch and was pivotal during our attacks. The Uruguayan also registered his 11th assist for the club with an inch-perfect free-kick to find Diamantakos in the box.
